Community Breakfast
On March 16, 2009, while attending the annual conference of the American Society on Aging/National Council on Aging, I listened to actor and President of the Erascism Foundation (which is focused on planting positive seeds of tolerance and cultural awareness in children), Louis Gossett, Jr. He reflected that while our nation is concerned about producing oil, our greatest national product is our youth. On March 26, while attending an Educational Summit at Everett Community College I listened to a presentation by Clay Roberts. His presentation included reference to the 40 Developmental Assets (copyright © 2004 by Search Institute). Here are a couple of items that I heard in relationship to what those involved with the Snohomish Community Coalition are working toward developing. While we do need to consider the at-risk youth in our community, we should partner with the following two groups of young people and ask them to share what went right, what has made a difference for them:" Those who are really doing well." Those who have dealt with adversity and are still making it.Community Breakfast and Introduction Tuesday morning, April 8, 2009, from 7 am to 8:30 am 1601 Avenue D, Snohomish (across from the Park & Ride) You are cordially invited to a complementary breakfast sponsored by the Snohomish Community Coalition.
